About Kenneth Ian McQuarrie

Author

Kenneth Ian McQuarrie was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, a small city of about 80,000 people near the Great Lakes.

An orphan from birth…

with serious medical complications, Kenneth went into foster care at three months old. Eventually adopted by his foster family, he was raised by loving Christian parents and mentored by his carpenter grandfather; he dreamed of becoming a carpenter. The Lord had different plans for young Kenneth. Those plans would take him on an incredible life journey across two countries to the pinnacle of the North American construction industry.

In his book, The Orphan Carpenter, Kenneth recounts his unique journey from orphanhood to adulthood, unfolding like a tale from the Old Testament. So many times, the odds were heavily stacked against him, life, and death situations. Yet, somehow, someway, God always showed up.

From orphan to carpenter and beyond, the pages of this book are Kenneth’s life stories. But the book is not about him or his story. It’s about God’s story.

As you read these true stories of Kenneth’s life like parables, may they be a testament that God is present and active in your life, that he loves you and has a plan to give you hope and a future.

Throughout all the trials and tribulations, Kenneth has maintained a strong faith and a good sense of humor. Staying active in the church and serving it in various capacities. He still holds on to the values imbued during his small-town, humble upbringing and honors his construction roots by undertaking frequent maintenance and home renovation projects.

Kenneth currently lives in Southern California with his wife, Celine, managing preconstruction and estimating for one of North America’s largest commercial construction companies’ Orange County, California office. His projects include university buildings, sporting and entertainment venues, hotels, resorts, airport terminals, and city redevelopments. When not working on construction or writing, Kenneth and his wife enjoy attending sporting events, biking, hiking, and traveling.
