Kenneth Ian McQuarrie – The Orphan Carpenter

As The Orphan Carpenter, Kenneth’s goal is to encourage Christ focused believers, through online devotionals, encouragements and resources.

Ken McQuarrie was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and entered the world with serious medical complications and no family to call his own. Placed in foster care as an infant, he was eventually adopted by a Christian family who gave him stability, faith, and a foundation to grow. Mentored by his grandfather, a carpenter, Kenneth developed a deep respect for craftsmanship and hard work. He dreamed of becoming a carpenter—but life had other plans.

His path took him across borders and into the heart of North America’s construction industry, where he now leads preconstruction efforts for major commercial projects in Southern California. From university campuses to airport terminals, Ken’s work shapes the spaces where people live, learn, and connect.

His 2022 memoir, The Orphan Carpenter, is a series of parable-like stories that highlight Gods divine intervention and purpose reflected with a life marked by resilience, faith, and quiet determination.

Through personal trials and professional milestones, Kenneth has held onto the values of his small-town upbringing and continues to serve his church and community. He lives in Orange County with his wife, Celine, and spends his free time hiking, biking, traveling, and staying connected to the work that first inspired him.
